So was going through my penny jar today. I have about 5 16oz red solo cups of pennies lol. Anyhow I found this coin. Wondering if it is rare and if its worth anything?

- first one I've seen on a 67 1 cent centennial; Rare, if authentic.

Nice! Looks authentic to me! Could bring $125-$225+ at auction.

well more then I thought it could be! lol.

the inside flat lip of the top of the bird there I originally thought was hit by a hammer or some one played in the vice but then I noticed that the inside had the same raised beveled dots in it as the penny does all the way around.

the queen's head side there kinda looks weird. Ill take the "mother ship" camera with me tomorrow and see what I can get for photos. These were taken with my iPhone.

So I see stuff on the forum about sending coins away to get authenticated etc. do they do the error coins?

Also should I be putting this coin in the safety deposit box? lol

Easy there.... if it was BU red, you might get $100 for it, if several people wanted the coin. It is too much off-centre for the 2nd strike, there are no elements on that little bit, other than beads. I would think that coin might reach $60 in an open auction like ebay...

I agree with SPP - There's not as much collector demand when it's that far off center. It's a nice find & I like the positioning of the error at about 12 o'clock.
