Hello - I have NEVER seen this mint error before. Can one of you Pro's out there give me a idea how this happened?
There is a 'upside-down' (incuse) 'E' above the E an the same for the 'T'., ALSO - it has a small ' Cud' within the planchet peel between the 'I' and dentals heading west
I'm guessing a lamination flaw where the thin upper layer was peeled up and folded back flat, giving the appearance of a mirror image of the letters. The image of the letters up at the beads would be the underside of the lamination peel. Not entirely sure if I've got it right but judging by the "cut marks" through the center of the letters themselves it makes sense.
Thank you very much for taking the time to respond. After closer inspection (with your opinions) I believe your are both right. It is retained and it appears to be flipped upside down. 'Assuming' the coin is EF (because of may circulation marks - though little wear) with very bright luster., do you have a opinion for it's value?
