Ok, just got some... and man, I LOVE this series...
just picked up 1 one of each
1- Gabon 2012 Silver 1 oz elephant coin
2- Congo Rhino 2012 Silver 1 oz coin
man..... these coins have an antique finish,, WOW is all I can say. I still love my Somalian elephants but holy cow,,, if I was a stacker, these would be the ones (yes I know you guys are saying that doesn't make sense since they are so expensive.)
As a side point, I really think with silver and gold prices dropping, look for deals in the heavy prem coins... I mean Pandas, proofs, etc. Just shop around,,, this sell off will yield deals!

Lol not yet there is a Jackie robinson commemorative thats real expensive in the grade I'm doing a series of those in. Someday lol someday. I really love the baseball diamond design the canadians did on that coin I just wish it wasnt gold, might have to make an exception for that though.
I do love the animal coins a lot as well. The US Mint could take some notes from some of those and the wildlife series or the Koalas.

YUP!! thats it! man the detail is INCREDIABLE.... I was blown away when I got the coin. And yes,, I paid a big premium. Being busy with work and all I first say the Gabon elephants at 70ish.... within months they were at 110, 125, 156, and I was watching them and I kept saying, I'ma get one this weekend,,, well I got tot he point where I picked my up at 200,,, the same has happened with the Rhino. I understand there is a 3 oz Elephant coin as well and this German mint will be releasing other animals in this series, I cant WAITTTT!!

^ Same. I was actually trying to NOT buy any silver for the first half of this year. Wanted to invest in some toys, like a fishing kayak and things. But man, everytime I check out this forum, I find threads like these.
I'm totally in love with that Rhino coin from Congo, the design is just amazing.

yea tell me about it. I thought I had what I wanted for 2012 and then .....these came out.
and I mean, the picture doesn't do it any justice. I dunno how they do it, but they got the elephant and rhino skins just right, so lifelike.
The Gabon elephant looks great next to my Somalian elephants too!
BTW, that Rwanda Rhino is also a nice coin, I have that one too.
I really wish more dealers carried stuff from the South African mint because they have some very nice silver and gold proof sets and coins for elephants and rhinos
OH, and if memory serves me right, that Rhino silver coin from Rwanda, they also have a proof black rhino coin, silver with I believe, gold on the rhino. I;ll see if I can dig up the imagine from the dealer in Europe, it mean its also so cool looking.

@Bekiz- oh lets see, this was around early December. I was going to place my order that week, got swamped with work, and completely forgot. I go to check 2 weeks later, it was 90 something. I forget again. I look again, now its 119,,, more time passes, I keep forgetting, the price keeps rising... it was at 140ish ... ima like man, I gotta get that coin. WELL... about 2-3 weeks ago, we had a holiday and I was off for the day, I FINALLY make time to buy it,,, and its like 189ish.. I go to ebay, lost in a bid even tho I kept going at it, I was going to pay no matter WHAT... well the next day I made an offer and I got it at 200. The Rhino appeared about January... and it was like 96 and I got at 136. And yes there's a shop in Germany that has them for 200 something.. there's still auctions on ebay, which some are from that shop in germany, what is it Ma-Shops? I was very happy with them tho. And as I stated, it appears other coins are on the way in this same antique finish,,, so ima READY I was ready to pick them up in December but work and all I couldnt focus,, But I tell you this, I dont regert dropping the money on those, they are so so so SO BEAUTIFUL that I can see why they been so hot. and yes, they do have a 3 oz with 500 mintage, ima licking my chops as we speak lol
