This is a 1979 penny with the dot for K G below the right leg of K . There is an impression for the dot between the K G . This dot lines up perfectly with this impression .
Any ideas on what happened ? Has this been seen before ?
It looks like a combination of a die chip, giving you the extra dot below the K, and a filled die, that being the dot between the K and the G having a bit of grease or other material in it causing it not to show up, or as you noticed, show up very weakly. It's quite interesting that both errors occurred on the same coin though. It's not an error that I've seen before either. Nice!
