If RCM believed there was a market for a long series featuring each of our PMs on the reverse of NCLT, I have no doubt they would mint it. (not to replace the Queen, that's another topic entirely, but RCM has issued several other double-sided "face" NCLT in the past, ie Queen Mother, Pr Chas) But who would buy it? For one thing, moulded facial images on coins just don't work well. Both the time factor for such a series, 3 or 4 a year over several years and total cost is also a deterrent. As a country we're low in patriotism and I bet most people do not even know the names of our past PM's further back than the last decade or so, let alone be willing to fork out $$$ to buy their face on a coin. Many of RCM releases are sold to foreign buyers who would have absolutely no interest in a PM series. I can't see it happening, just my opinion.

DavidUK: Quote: If taken all the way back to its roots though it was believed in Ancient times that no mortal was worthy of appearing on coinage - it was only deities that were allowed to appear.... Now images of the gods such as on the U.S. Liberty dollar I could support! Or images of some non-specific native Canadians such as on the U.S. Indian head/bison nickel.

Look if they put them on circulating coins, you would have to learn their names, other than "the crazy guy" and "what's his name's father". Besides as another poster already said, the RCM has already done snakes and badgers...

Quote: I think it has something to do with fear of people finding feces on some of their coins. There is "money" in that stuff! "British feces could contain £500 million of gold, silver and platinum" Quote: An eight year study by the US Geological Survey found that levels of precious metals in feces was comparable with those found in some commercial mines. In fact, mining all of Britain's excretions could produce waste metals which are worth around £510 million a year.

Could you imagine how much soap we'd use after handling coins with Mulrooney, Harper or Senior?

Some Prime Ministers live quite normal lives after their tenure.
Kim Campbell rides public transit. LOL Imagine seeing her on a dollar coin in your hand/pocket and then seeing her sit next to you on the train. Weird. haha

My initial thought was it's likely the selfie-guy himself who had the medallions commissioned from the Merrill mint.....ahemmmm, I should not harbour such vicious thoughts, perhaps he's just proud of his teeth. So my next suspect is his mother.

Justin is sexy....Maybe they can mint coins of him with RED boxing gloves on with our maple leaf on them. Exactly like the mitts the Bay sells.

Ah the Churchill crown. I have a couple but they are not coins - though admittedly neither is that Justin Trudeau medallion.
