I sometimes spend some time at vending machines inserting money then hitting the coin return, seeing if I get anything worth while. Well I guess someone who either stole a set of these, or didn't realize it was in their pockets, used a painted Florida State Quarter. Maybe the person found out they aren't worth getting and decided just to spend them. Just thought it was an interesting thing that happened.
Once I even got a 1964-D Jefferson nickel on Cent planchet! So I guess my system with checking vending machines paid off with that one! Some people (non-collectors) don't really know What's in THEIR Pocket!

A nickel on a cent planchet had to be manually loaded as the vending machine would not recognize it as a nickel.

I once found a Proof Florida Quarter doing the exact same thing at the vending machines.

good eye, I made a mistake. I copied and pasted the wrong coin >< that was meant to go into my coin database software. The coin I got as change was a South Carolina Quarter which was struck off center. Sorry for the total mix-up there.
