Poll Question
Since this was asked in another thread, I figure putting up a poll would be interesting. Have at it. :-) I'll start off. I'm a member of the GSNA (as my signature gives away) but not a member of the ANA. My grandfather, the one who got me into coin collecting in the first place, was not a member of any organization.

Local, regional and national club/organizations... but not USA.

I had thought about putting in outside-of-USA categories... but then the combinations would get out of control. :-)

I am a member of The ANA, California State Numismatic Assoc., Southern California Numismatic Assoc., Society of Paper Money Collectors, and 3 local clubs. I've also been President and am current Vice-President plus NewsLetter Editor of my local club. You get to meet a lot of interesting people and see things that are out of the ordinary by involving yourself with a club even if it's only by mail or electronically.

I am a member of the Australian Numismatic Association, which would be the nearest equivalent of the ANA. Joined recently. However for most of my life I have been a lone wolf. Reason? I have always put family first, but they have all grown up now, and I am an 'empty nester'.

Hey Steve, this is a biased poll You didn't include the proud members of CCF Shame on you Should you try again

IMHO, anyone not a member of their local coin club is missing out. Even in our small club (only 20 members), a few of the members are highly knowledgeable and a great source of information.

kenney, a local club can be a great source of information. Don't be afraid to ask questions while you are at the meeting. That's what the members are there for... to help

Actually being a member of a coin forum should qualify as a club member. People on this site are far more active than most local walk in clubs.

Heheh. How do I put this delicately to make sure that anyone who has been following and didn't catch it can understand... If you're voting in this poll, YOU'RE HERE ON CCF. That is all.

Quote: If you're voting in this poll, YOU'RE HERE ON CCF. I actually thought of that at first, but I think it would have been nice to see a "I only belong to CCF!" choice, which would be more accurate than the "I am a numismatic lone-wolf, not part of any organization." choice I made for the poll.
