Hey Everyone,

I bought this coin on ebay from a guy that sells his own slabs. He graded it very high (MS-67). I was wondering what you guys thought about this coin. If he cleaned this coin would it make it so that I couldnt get it graded somewhere else? Any feedback would be greatley appreciated!

Thanks,
Brandon

Hi brandon and welcome to the forum!

ANACS will grade problem coins and list the problem on the slab with a details grade. Anyone can submit a coin to ANACS. NGC will also grade problem coins through their NCS division(Numismatic Conservation Services). To submit to NGC, you will need to purchase an annual membership from them or you need to be an ANA member. I would not worry about getting a 1901-O Morgan slabbed though- it is a common date/mm combo and inexpensive through MS-64.

From what I can see from the obverse picure, I'd call this coin AU and most likely cleaned. A cleaning would drop the value to melt.

I don't think it can be MS-67 (gem?) with all those nicks and scratches. I think the best it's gonna be will be low MS-es. I never trust anything subjective on ebay.
