On Friday the mailman left me a nice surprise. A buddy of mine in southern Ontario who is also a metal detectorist and a coin roll hunter shipped me a care package. He does not collect US coins so he mailed me the US cents he has been pulling from circulation while roll hunting. The package contained 13 rolls of unsearched memorials and an additional 4 rolls of wheatbacks. Sweet! There are a few diamonds in the mix as well. Here are the wheaties that were in the mix: 1909P 1910P x 2 1912P x 2 1913P 1914P 1916P 1916D 1917P X 3 1918P X 4 1918S 1919 X 8 1919D 1919S X 2 1920P X 5 1924P 1925P X 3 1925S 1926P X 3 1926S 1927P 1928P X 2 1929P X 3 1930P X 3 1933P 1934P X 5 1935P X 2 1936P X 3 1937P X 3 1937D 1939P 1939S 1940P X 7 1940S 1941P X 11 1941S 1942P X 10 1942D X 2 1944P X 14 1944D X 2 1944S 1945P X 5 1945S 1946P X 8 1947P X 5 1947D X 4 1948P X 4 1948D 1949P X 2 1949D X 2 1950D X 3 1950P X 3 1951D X 10 1951P X 4 1952D X 5 1952P X 7 1953D X 8 1953P X 3 1954D X 2 1954P 1955P X 2 1955D 1956D X 4 1956P X 5 1957D X 7 1957P 1958D X 3 1958P

Make sure you remember him on his birthday, and at Christmas, because he gave you both of your presents at once real early this year!

Wow, if you didn't have a Wheat set before you do now, great gift.

We swap coins on occasions. I have a list of Canadian cents that he needed prior to the End date for the Canadian Cent. I have been pulling the ones that he needs as I searched the boxes. I have a package of Canadian cents that will be going back to him this weekend. Once the End of the cent was announced...he started a mission to get 500 examples of each date. I have been gathering coins to help with his quest. I will be sending him a few different US cent varieties as well to maybe get him started with a US cent collection.

Not a dealer per-say. He is a ebay seller who wants to be able to put together cent sets and sell them on ebay in the future. The sets will not have the scarce key dates and I keep anything dated 59 and older myself. If I keep any other dates is determined on condition, mintage and of course variety or error.

What do you mean by "diamonds"? I'm assuming that you don't mean girl's best friend either. I've heard the term applied to Indian Head cents but never to Lincolns'. I didn't understand it either when applied to IHC either.

Quote: What do you mean by "diamonds"? I just meant that there are a few nice coins in the mix. I did not mean "diamond" to describe any special characteristics of any particular coin. The 1909P is in great condition and a few of the other coins were hole fillers.

Didn't notice before. Not sure why. I just checked the 1909P and it is a V.D.B. Sweet. Looking at it under magnification it appears to have been cleaned at one time or another. Ahh well. Still a hole filler and did not cost me a cent.
