I changed the solution to let it sit overnight. The wife was able to at least 'peel' some with her fingernail. This is looking good.

Well its the morning and things are looking great! Here is what was left in the jar, And of course the coin looks great.. It just has a wee little left on it so I will soak it while at work and when I get home the drying out starts.

Looks awesome...acetone does wonders!
remember to wash it first with clean acetone, then plenty of deionized water before letting it dry....or at least that's what I do after I soaked a coin.

I'm late for a comment but it looks like somebody had glued the coin obverse side down. Maybe for a piece of jewelry or bolo tie. I'm glad the acetone worked. If you want a grade you'll have to post clean, clear, sharp images.
Thanks for sharing this.

Worked great! And as I am sure you have figured out, rinsing with water is NOT needed. Acetone dries quickly and thoroughly.
And yeah, a nice AU50 or possibly 55. Shame it had that gunk on it. Might have made MS if the luster had not been eaten away by it. Great deal regardless!

I need an 89-S, just in case you are dissatisfied. Other than that great job.
