I see the set listed on their scheduled list and it is due out in either May or June, but my question is where is the Mint's product description listing for this item? There should be one somewhere on their web site but I don't see it. Anybody?

That set was announced in early December when it was put on the "upcoming products" list...still no price set

There have been indications that the United States Mint will issue a special set to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the West Point Mint. Although the exact product name is still to be determined, a preliminary schedule lists the product as the "American Eagle West Point Two-Coin Silver Set".

Based on the name of the set, it will contain two American Silver Eagles. Specifics of the coin have not yet been provided, but the set may be similar to the 2012 San Francisco Silver Eagle Set, which contained a proof and reverse proof coin with "S" mint mark. In the case of the upcoming product, it might contain a proof and reverse proof Silver Eagle with the "W" mint mark.

The release date of the product is listed as "5/13 - " 6/13". This time frame seems to suggest that the product may be offered for a four week window of time, again similar to the San Francisco Set. Last year, the US Mint accepted orders only during a four week window with product based on total orders received during the period.

Update: The set will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the West Point Mint gaining mint status. The coins will include a reverse proof with the "W" mint mark and an uncirculated version with the "W" mint mark, which will differ from the regular uncirculated version.

Key point with the set: the uncirculated W "will differ from the regular uncirculated version" (unique coin)

I should also add that spot silver prices have dropped just under $5/ounce since the set was announced ($33.70/28.85)

If anyone thinks that the mint is going to drop the price of a money maker like this because the cost of silver has dropped, I think you would be mistaken. I think the price of this product was carved in stone a while ago and will not change no matter what the price of silver is.

We know that it is going to be a W reverse proof, the question is what the other coin is going to be. My guess is a polished W mint marked " business type " strike. Then hopefully the mint has learned it's lesson and doesn't come out with 2013 Special Edition Silver Proof Set with this coin in it.

As has been mentioned earlier in other threads, it looks like special edition items are going to be an annual event and some people wouldn't be surprised if the special editions happans more than once during a year's period.

I'm thinking it is time to start getting ready for 150 year anniversary of the Carson City mint. Time to gear up for a three coin Proof, RP, Uncirculated with a CC mint mark.

Not sure what lesson it is they need to learn as the special mint set simply has a proof ASE in it. And I for one would love for them to continue making them. It is a fantastic set.

Now, if you are referring to the coin and currency set where they released the San Fran proof ASE that was supposed to be unique to the 2 coin set, then yes, I would hope they would not do that again.
