Heres a lot I'm looking at. Another I cant bid on myself...so anyone with the will to help out PM me! Get a nice trade going.

Heres the IDs - you've got a republican denarius at the top - a trajan denarius with Apollo (probably) facing left with spear - an unknown septimus severus - a postumus Faustina CONSECRATIO peacock advancing right.

Why do I want this? well, its got all the things I'm looking for - a republican denarius found on UK soil (with quadriga!), a trajan with a cool reverse which has been holed (really interesting to think about how and when that happened - Saxons? Victorians? Either way, it went back underground afterwards), a posthumous issue and a peacock and a septimius severus on the side.

Heres another lot I've been looking at which ends in the middle of the night:

Nice Lucius Verus and a cool lot because you dont see the reverse till you receive them. And hopefully no one will bid with them in that condition.

It is because of the end time (20:27 PM GMT) of the auction that you cannot bid on it?
As I type, the bid is at £12.50.

Whilst browsing, saw this:

"A silver Roman coin (Denarius(?)), 1st/2nd AD. 2 cm wide. Poss. Marcus Aurelius"

A misattributed denarius of Septimius Severus, VICT PARTICAE.
Currently £4.99

It is a 2 fold problem - No.1 I dont have paypal and No.2 I may not be around for the end of the auction.

I am also poor - but I have plenty of coins I can trade. I have a budget at the moment and its been set aside for another purchase (which it seems may never happen...been waiting weeks, but I still have hope).

I would say that if you have a budget to keep to, best stay away from broken Denarii.
They can end up being broken even more in the post.

If there is coin shows near you, best stick to that, at least you will be able to see the coins for real.

Forgive me for saying this but there isn't anything in that lot that I would spend any money on.

I agree Bullion value only and that will vary on quality.

The point is valid - they arent worth diddly squat. But what I'm after here is a republican denarius dug up in the UK. the others are just nice additions.

And the broken lot is nice because its bulk - but I could get a really nice whole one for that price.

Ill continue to try and poke about wholesalers to try and see what they have up for offer for the time being. I have noticed that the broken lot have been up for sale before and hes taken the price down a bit this time - I dont htink they'll sell with nothing rare/nice showing so Ill wait and see if he goes lower.

You notice in the last photo, it appears a coin originally in that lot has been "cut out" of the photo.
Even it that coin got sold on its own, at least bother to get a new photo done. Lazy!

Gosh - I didnt notice till you pointed it out! didnt pay much attention...oh well.

Coins still havent sold. The auction has gone down a considerable amount each time. I think if it doesn't sell I might try next time its put up. Its gone from 50ish to 30 now, so hopefully next one will be a good jump down. Id like to go for it at £20 - £2 per fragment.

Ive also got my eye on this...
A-Nice-Silver-Lot

One of the best designs in my opinion!
