Sorry for leaving this one alone for so long; I guess it slippe dbetween the cracks.

It's early Islamic, not an easy series to study for us non-Arabic-speakers. I pretty much rely on matching pictures and patterns with the illustrations in my "Eastern Coins" catalogue. Based on that method, the best match I can find is Ilkhanid Persia, circa AD 1300. The best example I could find on zeno.ru is this one - but not a perfect match.

The main problem I have is the weight: double-dirhams of this time period like the one I linked to above weigh 4 grams, dirhams weigh 2 grams.
