I have bought several coins on ebay. I was wondering what the forums thoughts on ebay where. You really cant go by positive feedback to ensure your getting quality coins. I already have been a sucker to a guy that is a power seller.

The only coin-related thing in recent history I've bought off ebay was a Dansco 7070 album. It should be arriving in the mail within the next few days, and I'll report back on whether or not I'm satisfied with my purchase.

Aside from that, ebay can be somewhat shifty in the coins department, which is why I generally refrain from purchasing raw coins off there.

I buy about 98% of my coins from ebay and I have yet to really get burnt, I guess I am just lucky. I will not bid if the pictures aren't clear and show the detail on the coin I am looking at always check the sellers feedback. If I am not happy with the pictures provided on ebay will always email the seller to get better pics and if they do not provide them I always pass on that coin. This is in no way a fool proof way of doing it, just what has worked for me so far

Pretty much sums up my experience as well. If it looks like they are hiding something in quality and aren't forthcoming then I don't do business with them. Feedback is a very good way to check the reputation of a dealer and if he Did sell fake coins and was unaware it would reflect in his feedback at some point in thousands of responses.
