Found this at my local antique mall, with a bunch of other coins. Once again for 30 cents. I read 1917, and was amazed. Does anyone know anything about it? I read that it's silver. Also what is the condition of the coin? I'm not to great at eying grades. Is there somewhere on here that helps with that? Edited by Martinez190 02/27/2013 10:59 pm

1917 Newfoundland twenty five cent piece. It's .925 (Sterling) silver and had a mintage of 464,779. With better pics, it could be graded... looks as though it could be at least VF. Awesome find.

That is a great find. The seller needs a lesson in silver identification.

I found a 1918 silver Canadian quarter at my antiques mall for $4.50. It has this horrible untoned glare to it (I'm pretty sure they clean all their low-grade Canadian change) and it's only VG8, but still, I got it for below the price of silver.
