Last week on ebay, a 2008 LIBERTAD Gold 1/2 TROY OZ PCGS PR69 (500-Minted) sold for $1,035.99 which I was out bided.

I found another one, the only difference is that this coin is PCGS PR70, one grade higher from the above coin. The seller wants $1,475 for this coin.
Isn't that a big price increase from a PR69 to PR70.....$440 increase from a PR69 to PR70?

Thanks for your feedbacks.

thats actually small. I've seen modern bullion or coins with PR70 go up a few thousand dollars all because of one point. Dont even bother with that

That is totally a reasonable price if you take what you have at face value. You didn't say what year it is, if it's 2008 like the other one , the total mintage is 500 coins of which PCGS has only certified 4 at PF70. Compare that to the gold American Eagle at a total mintage of 22,602 compared to 500 ; 420 PCGS PF70 Eagles compared to 4 Libertads .

$1475 for the Libertad compared to $1750 for a PF70 Gold Eagle on $Bay or $3999.99 for a PF70 FS because it has an FS pop. of 42.
Consider those numbers and you are getting one of only 4 coins in the world for $1475.00. But alas collecting is all about supply and demand and as we discussed before , Libertads prices are determined more by the demand side than the supply side.
The appreciation of the beauty and low mintage figures of the Libertads have to at some point be reflected in their value. It is just a matter of when. In the short run this coin is not going to turn a profit for you as other gold coins priced closer to bullion value might, but as a long time investment it could be a great value.
But again like I said before I collect them because I love them, any long term value is a bonus because I am not planning on selling mine any time soon

Denco7, I made a small mistake, 2008 MEXICO 1/2 OUNCE PROOF GOLD LIBERTAD NGC PF70, MINTAGE 500 is graded by NGC....NOT PCGS.
Does this make a difference now in the asking price of $1,475?

The NGC pop in PF70 is 5 so in this case I don't think itakes a difference in price.
