It came today, the Liberty Seated Collectors' Club 40th Anniversary Gold Medal. I am enjoying it a lot!

The edge of the medal reads:

"1 TROY OZ. 999 GOLD 2289 MATTHEW V. STUDENT"

I still have two examples of the silver version on order.
Given Daniel Carr's reputation, this is an experiment in gambling. Not a fantasy coin, just a medal.

Now, if my article for the 40th Anniversary Edition of the LSCC Journal is approved I will have proof positive of the provenance of this medal. Sister suggested putting them all in a big baggie and I think that is a dandy idea!

We all carve out out a small niche in the world of coin/medal collecting. This shall be mine.

Oh, the total mintage is --- 22.

Excellent medal! I remember reading your earlier posts about the piece. It's nice to see it "live."

I know Daniel Carr can stir emotions in folks, but he does produce some nice pieces. I have two of his recent issues in my collection (his '1975' Bicentennial Ike and Kennedy) and plan to add the quarter when he makes it avalable.

Hope to read your article some day!

Matthew,

I had a thread on my coin. I will not repeat my comments.
