Are 1971 S pennies hard to find.?
I have been slowly going through my pennies, real newbie here..LOL taking my time and trying to learn as I go.. but I found a 1971s penny, the only reason I caught it is because it is the first s coin I have seen, remember newbie..

I don't find many S cents in general. In the last week I have found around 8 but only kept one. John1

I keep all the S cents I find... Since I've started low-key roll searching, probably $3-400 searched now, I've found around 75. They're my favorites :D -- besides my 1913-1936 LWCs

the san francisco mint only minted lincoln memorial cents from 68-74 I believe. they are significantly lower mintages than the philly and denver mints, so SAVE THEM! 1968 P 1,707,880,970

Crazy, I tweaked you table. If you add [co de] before and [/co de] after, it lets everything line up.

I just got a dansco for Lincoln Memorials , went through the cents I had that were BU or had a nice red tone. Discovered I have a 73s, 69s and a 72s all in great shape! Now for the 68, 70, and 71!

I find many "S" cents while searching through cent rolls. Most of the time it's 1971 S, though.

ive been searching for a 71 s for what feels like forever... I'm trying to fill out a book with every year and mint. I'm like 7 short of completing everything after '59... lucky. definitely hold on to the s mints you find.

I just finished searching a box. Among other years/mints/countries, I found 6 S mints. 4 were wheats from the 1940s and 1950s, one was 1974-S and one was 1969-S. For a whole box, that was actually a little bit lower than my average for S-mint. I also keep every S I get...just like I keep all my wheats.

I keep all S mint coins I find, low mintage or not. It's fun to find something other than the usual P,D, or just plain blank mint marks on coins. Most often they are worth more, or will be some day. Happy Hunting!
