Grading assistance regarding the accompanying 1868 Nickel Three Cent ... in addition, is there the presence of a doubled die in the "D" in "United," second "S" in "States," and second "A" in "America?"

Thank you

I am in for mid-AU on this one. Longacre doubling, different than a doubled die, happened quite a bit on this series. It is hard for me to tell from your pictures (I am on an iPad) but if the doubling is on more than one side of the letters, that is most likely what it is. http://www.numissociety.com/content...A-discussion has a pretty good discussion on Longacre doubling.

Thanks for posting - it is a nice coin!

I am thinking AU-55 but it may go AU-58. Just a little bit of wear on the cheek and hair curls. Typical weakness in the word liberty and the roman numerals. Much mint luster is visible on the reverse and a little bit around the protected areas on the obverse.
