Chrome or no chrome - what is the difference and any added value in non chrome?

Coins dated 1944-45, 1951(non-commerative), 1952-54 were all chrome plated (i.e which gives them the bluish tinge).

Some coins (from list above) were released into circulation without the final plating step and are considered a rare variety and command a premium.

Normal properly chrome plated coins (except the high relief varieties) have no significant value.

Some no chrome are worth significantly more due to their scarcity. See http://www.coinsandcanada.com/coins...ts-1937-1952 for some examples.
