1948 Penny, What Happened - Coin Community Forum

CPC2013 Valued Member Canada 377 Posts	Posted 03/03/2013 11:17 pm A 1948 penny that looks like it was being melted at the time of being struck . Right side from DEI down to the bottom of bust has large waves all through the coin . The legend does not have double stamping but you can see another impression of the lettering . The letters don`t seem to be double struck as normal . Definitely weird . Report this Post to the Staff
