SsuperDdave Moderator United States 23522 Posts	Posted 03/06/2013 5:39 pm The true diameter should be 34mm, but given the accuracy of your measuring tool () and the difficulty of deciding exactly where the rim is in the bezel, I don't see that as a problem. This is a 1911-D (mint mark above the date). Not the most common issue, but not the least. I really don't see anything about the coin that alarms me as a fake, and given its' provenance I wouldn't have much trouble believing it's real. However, having been in jewelery - likely polished, as well - it's probably only worth the value of the gold. Report this Post to the Staff
HaroldS Valued Member United States 292 Posts	Posted 03/06/2013 8:01 pm Looks good to me. Check the bezel (that ropey thing holding the coin) for being 14 karat or maybe 18 karet if it is old.
