This hammered silver coin measures 16 mm at its widest diameter and weighs about 0.6g.It has a crowned kings head on the obverse and a cross with pellets and centre quartrefoil on the reverse. Can anyone help identify it?Could it be Richard iii ?

and I feel for you wanting this to to be a Richard III penny!
The clipping has spared the monarch's name, but all that's really visible from these pics is a final letter D, which doesn't rule out RICARD. Will consider other possibilities.

There's certainly a mark to the right of the king's neck. A lis? A trefoil? Don't believe it is a key. Seems like the main other possibility is Edward IV. Do think we can see EBO at the lower left of the reverse pic, for CIVITAS EBORACI.

Thankyou both - I have added another picture.Could the obverse have 2 D s showing for RICARD DIE REX ANGLIE? I agree the reverse may read civitas eboraci
