I know if it's printed on the Web it has to be true. Correct ? I found this link and since I'm not the sharpest economist in the shed when it comes to these things, I thought I'd get your take. Any takers? Please keep the politics to the bare minimum with your comments. If that's possible. Or is this a scare tactic to get you to buy some know-it-alls book? http://www.moneynews.com/MKTNews/bi...urce=taboolaEdited by mds308 03/06/2013 09:20 am

Blatant manipulation of the facts in order to sell books. Can't understand why people follow these " pop ups on their browsers.
If Berkshire Hathaway is dumping consumer stocks, then why did they just buy Heinz for 23 bil ? Nothing more consumer than Ketchup ........ mmmmmmmm......

buy my book...Buy My Book!...BUY MY BOOK!!...BUY MY BOOK!! OK! Enough already! I got the message!
Personally speaking... I HATE those gloom+doom birds. I'm sick of hearing their crap and I honestly wish they'd all just disappear from the face of the earth.
If Whatsizname is so rich, why is he trying so hard to hawk this wretched book? I know full well that it isn't because he cares so much about my well-being!

You see the same thing with PM's. There are people predicting PM's will drop. I keep hoping they are correct. I would love a chance to pick up silver and gold at 2001 levels.

How to make a million bucks..........
Write a book filled with crap on how to make a million bucks. Then make a million bucks selling it to idiots who think you can make money by reading a "self help " book.
Easy Peasy .........

Forget about the book. Oh ya people already did. His first book was right and no one wanted to believe that one either. I'm not going to buy one but I agree 100 percent that the Fed money printing is destroying our Nation. It won't be long and you won't have to guess about this one either. The market is following the printing back up again wow what could that mean?

I hate bad news also. That doesn't mean you should ignore it. I look forward to the day that there is more good news to be had that is real. Unfortunately in the U.S. that is not what is happening right now. You can put your head in the sand, or be a zombie like half the country. I prefer to be awake and prepared.

Seems like a lot of the time they only tell you half the story. Buffet and others may be selling off massive amounts of stocks, but theyre putting it right back into different ones that they see more upside or decide is a better investment. Its also important to remember that while those guys are very successful at stocks they arent right about everything. They come out ahead as a whole 99 times out of 100 but they do make individual moves that dont always make them money. With how much they put into companies they only need a handful of their investments to be successful. A dollar 10 price boost when you own 100 million shares puts you up a billion dollars

Yes, it is a scare tactic and it is designed to sell books. Which is not to say that there are no crumbs of truth in this situation. There are and we can use them to our benefit. First, do NOT buy this fellow's book. A great deal of the same kind of info can be gleaned from the web with a little effort. Next, the US stock market is now a gravity defying levitating machine and it is powered almost exclusively by near-free money that the Fed is dumping into the US economy via the banks. There is no way that the current stock market fundamentals can justify a Dow of 14,000+. The earnings simply are not there for that and they seem to be declining.
I have evaluated the US stock market and invested in it for 36+ years. In all that time, it was the fundamentals of a business plus the news that affected the stock under review that helped me decide whether or not to invest. I am unhappy to report that this is no longer possible because Fed and Gov policies now matter more than the basics of investing. They are distorting the market so badly that experienced investors now barely recognize it anymore.
Because of this, it is not possible to make rational decisions about what stocks are likely to do well in the near to medium term future. So, I am now investing more in PMs and a few index ETFs that I can sell very quickly, if necessary. I am making a little money with this but not a lot. As long as the Fed continues to inflate the market via cash infusions, I am willing to go along for the ride. This does not mean that I am not prepared to bail out quickly if that seems to be necessary. The game now is to preserve what I have and add a bit if I can do so in relative safety.
The good news, though, is that the stack is growing nicely. Since I was last here, I have received the 225 Canadian Silver Maples that I had ordered as well as 5 Canadian Gold 1-oz. Maple Leaf coins. On order but not yet received are 200 2013 ASEs and another batch of 5 gold 1-oz. Maples. My current in-hand stack is now at just under 1700 ozs. of silver and 5 ozs. of gold. Ultimately, I hope to have 2000 ozs. of silver and 40 ozs. of gold but time and circumstances may change this. We'll see.

@arcticsparky---Being sick and tired of the rabid, foaming-at-the-mouth gloom+doom screamers doesn't by definition imply having one's head buried in the sand or being unawake or unprepared. Don't confuse being a non-follower with being a zombie.
For me, it involves thinking independently, surveying and analyzing information and situations without being swayed by the loudest wannabee cult-leader-like icons because of their volume level or the aggressiveness of their book sales promotion campaigns.
If the frothing, jabbering self-proclaimed prophets were truly worth following, infinitely more people would be listening to their every syllable and following them like so many wolves following the scent trail of a bleeding sheep. And -- if that was the case, the screamers wouldn't have to work anywhere near as hard at selling their books! The books would sell themselves and be into the tenth printing inside months flat.
But, as always... "To each his own" and "Ya pays yer money and ya takes yer choice." Everybody should chart their own course and follow their own path-- whether that path is a trail blazed by prophetic screamers or not. For me, it's "NOT."
Edit: @EdB--Way to go with the stack! I'm building mine, too. Not near the size of yours, but holding the distance between yours and mine stable--which takes some effort!

Freddy I was simply saying that just because something sounds scary doesn't mean you should discount it. Which is what it sounded like some people were doing. I'm not going to buy this guy's book, but I also won't ignore information from a proven source. We need people to pull their heads out and think for themselves. That is the greatest problem we have in the U.S. right now. Many people believe what the state run media says even when it is obviously propaganda.

Exactly EdB, that's the scary monster that is a fact. It's a fact ignored because it's scary or people have been lied to enough that they don't believe it. Well it's real.

@arcticsparky---You said "We need people to pull their heads out and think for themselves." You certainly got that one right!
If you haven't already, do take the time to read The True Believer by Eric Hoffer. Hoffer had more insight into the nature of the followers of the world (IMO) than the sum total of all philosophers and writers who came before him. It's a short, quick read, public libraries almost always have it and you can find it used for >$10.
