My father was a bit of a coin collector. I
inherited half of his collection. Mostly odds and ends that he had intercepted from circulation. He died about eight years ago. I didn't become interested in coins until a little over a year ago. Trying to get a handle on the collection was a bit overwhelming, and sadly, I didn't develop an appreciation for coins before I had sold off most of the silver.
I have developed quite an interest in large cents and have just over forty of them in sheets in a three-ring binder. Some from dad's collection. Some that I've bought here and there.
Today, I came across an old Whitman album of dad's that I had set aside and forgotten about. It contained 37 large cents, including an 1858. Most of the coins are quite worn, a couple very corroded. Two stood out because of their light colour. My first reaction was that they must have been cleaned. But upon closer inspection, these two coins don't show much wear. Maybe they are in original state.
Anyway, I thought I'd share them here, at the same time getting some practice at photographing coins and preparing images. The background is an 18% grey card.
