I am concerned when I see private bidders bidding and wonder if this is a shill game or maybe a legit move to protect identity for security reasons ?

I would mention in your listing that you don't accept Private Feedback bidders.
I had a bad experience with one before.

People who have private feedback also can't sell items.
I think it's pointless of ebay to offer such a feature, isn't everything based off feedback on ebay...

I will never bid on anything on ebay if any other bidders are all marked as Private. Is this done by the seller or the bidder? If I did bid some on something would I then be listed as Private too?

there are 2 different types of "private" settings on ebay. There's making your feedback private which IMO is stupid and these people should be avoided. Then there is a "keep bidder identity private" setting for each auction. This is typically done for items of a "personal" nature or sometimes for high value items so other people can't see who won and therefore can't hunt them down and steal their stuff lol!

However the second type can also be used to conceal shill bidding so if there is no obvious reason for an auction to be set private it's probably best to move on.

I had a bidder with private F/B who had over 300 positives and it was 100% perfect F/B. I don't get it.

I'm annoyed at the private prices on "make an offer" sales.

On a forum like this, many know user names & ebay names + general locations....Spending 20 to 40K on ebay over a period of a few months, going private until the listing can't be looked at by others makes perfect sense to me. :) Who knows who is trolling and connecting dots.

Not that I have 20 or 40 thousand, lol.

Exactly. The only thing he probably is doing with that many perfect F/B's as a buyer is protecting his identity. Someone that concerned about security must cringe when he wins and the seller gets his name, and addy (probably a PO Box).
