Good day all, need some help in selling MS grade nickel 5 cent pieces from the 1920s and 1930s.
I can get some decently priced nickel 5 cent pieces in unc condition but wonder what the market is for them? I see very few on ebay so is it worth getting into that game?

Thanks

On ebay you would be lucky to get half of trends for them (except for the 1925 and 1926 far 6 of course). I found they sold better as lots than individually but I never made any money off them. Check them for varieties though as many of the listed varieties will go for more.

Hey jey rey,

Hope your day's goin' well... :)

That's a pretty open-ended question...

Lots of factors to consider if you're buying for purposes of resale on ebay in hopes of making a fair profit vs your time & investment...

There is definitely a market out there for uncirculated George V vintage series nickels...

However, what is your confidence level in assessing grade of these coins before making the purchase...?

And your experience in determining what is "decently priced"...?

Keep in mind that it's been a real buyers market recently and even higher grade coins are selling on ebay for considerably less than the value listed in "Trends"...

Are you planning to sell them as raw coins, or get them 3rd party graded & certified...?

There is cost involved in getting graded... but you'll probably get more bidders on a certified coin... and don't forget when selling you'll have ebay & PayPal fees...

Are you in a hurry to turn them over, or are you willing to hold out for top price...?

Bottom line JeyRey, be carefull about spending a significant amount of money speculating on coins for resale... if it's not a significant amount of money then make sure it's still a calculated gamble...

Take care, and Have a Great Day!

I like the way you think Cameron. There are plenty of factors to look at. I collect mainly large and small cents so the nickels would hopefully bring profit to fund my penny collection. I have also noticed that it seems to be a buyers market on plenty of coins out there these days. My best bet would be to maybe do a smaple and buy 1 or 2 coins from my source and send them out for grading by TPG.

Thanks
