Hi,
I purchased a 1974 Silver Security "Life, Liberty, Property" silver round. I've never ran across these rounds, but there was something intriguing about it that told me to buy it. Can anyone tell me what I have (aside from a silver round)? History? Value?
There doesn't seem to be a lot of info on these rounds online. Any information is appreciated.

I don't have that one, but I do have 3 others: Universaro, The International Universal trade unit, The International Silver Trade Unit, all are 1 oz silver rounds dated 1972, 73 and 74. No indication of who made them. Interesting that in the 70's there were silver rounds made for "Universal Trade".

Does anyone know of a generic album that could display silver rounds? I just realized I have quite a collection of different ones and would like to display them in an album instead of keeping them in tubes.

Near as I can tell, it is a 1 oz round from these guys:

Might be worth giving them a yell to see if they minted these back in '74

I just ran across this old post on a random search... I'd love to have that type of thing for a pocket piece, I'm a Libra born in 1974 so the UT is a nice pocket piece...

This one is not dated but has nice eye-appeal.

I'm surprised no one mentioned the Liberty Lobby rounds from the early 1980's or the Trade dollars from the 1880's (-ish, not sure on the dates of them but they were the early "Trade Units" in the US)

This piece sure seems crudely made. In 1973 the price of silver was rising from about $2 to $5 in 1974. So there must have been excitement in the investment community causing private minters to market their products due to the excitement and big uptick in price. All marketing was slow compared to today done by mail and paper advertising and direct phone calls. We all have lots of different silver rounds during the 1979-82 runup. So this 1974 time period is unique and a collection based around it would be tremendous.
