I had an idea for a grade=year type set.

The concept is simple:

1901 - P1 dime.
1902 - Fr2 dime.
1903 - AG3 dime.
1904 - G4 dime.
1906 - G6 dime.

And so on till the 1970 MS70 dime.

There are a few problems with the idea. I've never seen an MS68-70 dimes from these years, or a slabbed P1 dime (of any year), but the concept is amusing.

I'm sure there are some slabbed PO-1 coins, but if you're unlucky there might not be any for the year you want (though it's less likely with the Barbers - that series circulated well).
On the other side, however, I don't think you'd get anywhere beyond MS-67; there are some MS-68 dimes in that period, but none in the respective year (at least according to Numismedia).
You also apparently got lucky that all of the years without any dimes do not correspond to meaningful grades

Well, getting a P1 slabbed dime is the easy part (just need to send a super worn dime for grading and hope it won't get a Fr2 designation). .
