About a week ago I received my first Chinese coin to be a part of my 'Notable Historical Figures' collection representing Qin Shi Huang.

Qin Dynasty
AE 12 Zhu, 220 - 180 B.C., Unknown Mint, 31mm, 4.7g, 0°, Hartill 7.7.
Obv: Ban Liang.
Rev: Blank as made.

Yep it is surprising he is not more well known in the west. Had a massive impact on the Asian continent.

Cool piece of history! It's pretty amazing how long this style of coin was in use.
Imagine if Republican denarii were struck into the 19th Century?

Chinese civilization has been around for five thousand years, and it's believe by some that their coinage predates that of the west. Because of the plain appearance of it's coinage they are mostly overlooked by collectors. It's when you put the period when the coin was cast and what was going on historically at that time the coin takes on a better appeal.
