Lovely indeed ... and perhaps of some significant numismatic value.
This is a very low mintage classic silver commemorative half dollar ... 5,005 net distribution from each mint ... and the original holder adds significant interest.
Interested to listen to commems input on the holder ... he is our resident expert on all commemorative related ephemera.
I say lovely set ...

Wow! So you think you can post this without additional details? How did you acquire them? What do you know about this particular set? Cigar box? Very nice! Thanks for posting

Quote: Wow! So you think you can post this without additional details? LL....Sorry campers. I'm still a newbie here. Only been on board for a week. My dad was a dealer in the 70's and 80's and thanks to me I might add.I worked in high school at the local stationery store which also was the only coin store in my county to speak of. I quickly became interested in the hobby and was basically the assistant manager of the coin department. ( young kid...KNEW NOTHING). My dad had a luncheonette across the street and was amazed that people made a living buying and selling coins. The owner of the stationery store was losing money so he sold the coin business to my father. Later the guy who was running the entire original store (not the silent owner) went into partnership with my dad and opened a new stationery store/card/coin/magazine store. I was his assistant with the coins for from 1972 until his passing in 91. By then he had amassed a fairly impressive collection. I too had collected and hoarded over the years. When my dad died we locked up all his stuff (six safes and a fur vault mind you). I put my coins away and raised a family. Recently I decided it was time to tackle the ridiculous task of attempting to catalog the coins. I had no idea what he had accumulated. Bags of Indian heads to Ikes. Thousands of Morgans. Binder upon binder of carded 2 x 2's of every denomination, type and all the rest. Then I found out he bought his ex partners foreign collection. Easily a 30,000 coin collection. Then I found the post cards. Then I found the watches. Then I found the Billy Beer. I'm still finding. Anyway, I have been posting finds as I find them. Some are his and some are mine. The Cincy set was in my basement in a wooden cigar box that had proof sets and mint sets as well as my favorite coins which were tokens, Bust halves, Walking ladies, and Lincolns. I also like big foreign silver coins and mostly the weird stuff.....buttons/tokens/medals/what we now call exonumia? I'm just getting started and am excited to be sharing the finds with this community as I find them. OK..hows that for filling in the blanks? Gaz

You should call it "The Gazot Hoard" Congrats on your rediscovery. It sounds like you have your work cut out for you. I hope you enjoy the treasure hunt.

Wonderful old-time set! It's nice to see one of the original black leatherette holders still holding the coins -- often these holders are found without the coins. There are multiple versions/varieties of these sets. The first 200 sets that were placed in these holders featured a notarized certificate on the back indicating the special nature of the set - similar to the Cleveland holders. Most of sets that are found in these holders are number 201 or higher -- i.e., they do not include a notarized certificate. If interested, I showed a picture of my (empty) holder here: https://goccf.com/t/116786Thanks for sharing! I enjoyed the background story! I look forward to seeing your future finds!

Wonderful details! I was hoping for a few sentences, please do not take my "demands" as shaming the new guy on the block. Seems to me you have been holding back a bit? I look forward to additional pictures and knowledge transfer

Nice set of a not so common commemorative and the original holder just adds to the set.
