Hello, I've just joined this forum - nice to meet everyone.

I have been collecting the Five pound coins with the 2012 olympic logo - most are silver proof. The Mint produced a series called a Celebration of Britain: Mind, Body and Spirit. I have recently acquired the one depicting the river Thames with the quotation "Tameless, and swift, and proud". It was supposedly issued in 2010 and the announcement making it legal tender in the London Gazette was for a date of 2010. The one I have acquired is dated 2009. Has anyone else come across error dated coins in this series?

Curious...interesting error to be 2 digits off. Is it proof?

Yes it is a silver proof.
I believe that the planchets must have been struck first for the genuine 2009 issues and one of the obverses has somehow found its way into the 2010 issues. That's the only thing I can think of. It would be nice to know the mintage for that particular coin.

It must be a mule of some sort - perhaps ask the mint if they did a trial strike dated 2009?

I have already spoken to the RM and they are interested in it to try to discover how it may have happened. They said please send it by Registered post but I think I may just arrange an appointment and a long trip down to Llantrisant.
I have put out lots of "feelers" amongst the British Decimal community and it would, at this stage, appear to be a one-off.
