Here is a frosty 49 hoof 50 cent coin with a few DC's from bust to base and in the top of the E and maybe a little DC in the 2nd G to the rim also.

The weakness across the Reverse is also seen in this late die state.

Very Nice Coin.... in addition to the hoof over 9, the 9 is also repunched (9/9). I have a couple of the 9/9 before the die chip forms, one with a partial chip, and a couple with the completed chip.... none have the obverse die cracks.

pginrh....Thanks for the added info on the 9's. I will try to post clearer pics of the date.

Is the 9/9 only seen on the last 9 in the date..?

...and is there a separate collectable category for these added anomalies..?

I have collected George VI 50 cent varieties for quite a few years now, originally spurred by the entries in the Zoell catalogues. Since it appears that the last two digits of the date of most years for those George VI 50 cent coins were entered into each die seperately from other dies, it makes for a good selection of individual date spacing varieties and repunch varieties. There are probably over 60 repunched varieties to be found in the series.. Unfortunately there don't appear to be too many collectors that specialize in the series and these coins are starting to disappear with the recent silver culls.

On your coin , it is the last 9 that is repunched.
