A couple days ago I went to the bank and asked for my usual "unusual" stuff (halves and dollar coins). So when I saw 4 shiny McKinley - P's in the pile they gave me, I was pleasantly surprised since the 2013s aren't being made for circulation. Woo! It's the small things sometimes. So, one wonders how they got to the bank in the first place. Not sure why someone would buy a bag/roll and then just turn around and dump them. I have to imagine they were dumped/deposited together as the probability of finding 4 shiny NIFC McKinley-P's from separate sources is miniscule.

Some people who buy large quantities from the mint are only paying about $0.10 premium per coin, so it's not a huge deal to give some up for circulation to keep the series alive.

Im going to guess that they just searched their orders for the best ones and then spent the others. They really arent worth trying to individually sell them on ebay

If anyone wants to come on out to Denver and spend some of those and then happen to let me know what banks, I would think that was pretty cool... :)

It's awesome that people are putting these in circulation, if I ever get around to ordering a box of 250 from the mint I plan on putting some into circulation too. But then again I have some other hobbies that are sucking money... lol.

Nice score.
I haven't found any of the NIFC ones yet.

I was able to find one Grover Cleveland 1st term 2012-P at my local bank recently. I had the same questions as to how it got into circulation. Hope I have someone in the area who is releasing their extras.

I just got another Grover Cleveland 1st term 2012-P at my local bank. That is the second one from this bank. Not sure where they are coming from, but I'll keep checking for more.

Well, my bank came through again. This time I was able to get 1 Grover Cleveland (22nd) 2012-P, 1 Grover Cleveland (24th) 2012-P, 2 William McKinley 2013-P, 1 William McKinley 2012-D. They said they came in in a deposit. I guess someone is unloading their extras into circulation. My gain. It is great getting them at face value. All are uncirculated.

We have a small battery of vending machines here at work and they all take small dollar coins. Therefore, we have a small dollar change machine sitting next to them all. I've been putting in a twenty each friday to see what pops out and I just got my first BU Grover Cleveland D yesterday! Wooty woot!

There is, of course, the risk of the machine running out of dollars mid-dispening and there would be no recourse for me but it's a risk I'm willing to take. I drop the twenty, get the coins, and then before I 'vend' anything from the machine, I reject the coins a few times to see if anything new pops out. After that, I actually make a purchase and then ride the sugar high through to the end of my shift! :)
