At a local antique store today (In the USA) I bought the following coins and I would like to learn anything about them.
Are they silver? Approximation on value?
1944-S Six Pence (Paid $1.75) I do know this was made in the US and I think it is silver
1942-D Six Pence (Paid $2.50) Same as above
1954 Shilling (Paid $2) I know nothing about this coin
1963 Florin (Paid $3.50) I also know nothing about this coin.

None of these are rare dates but all up you have .4403 oz of silver there
The sixpences are stirling silver and the shilling and florin are 50% silver

Would you mind telling me some of the key dates of these series? They had a few that were priced substantially more.

None of the 6d coins are particulary rare.
the 1915 and 1933 shillings are tough
the 1914,1915,1932 and 1939 florins are tough as well

Any pre 1936 coins are usually worth a premium.
Of the post 1936 coins there still are a few "key" dates

Sixpence - 1953
Shilling - 1940
Florin - 1939

upto 1945, Australian silver coins were 92.5%, or "sterling".
1946+ were 50% silver.

These were withdrawn from circulation from 1966, when we "decimalized", and adopted dollars & cents, instead of pounds, shillings, & pence (pennies).

The mintmark S means SanFrancisco; D is Denver.

The shilling was worth 12 pence; and the florin was worth two shillings.
