Why Are Dansco Type Albums So Cheap?

2x2s are just cardboard and thin plastic. Not sure how that would be a better container for "valuable" coins.

There ARE books for air tites...http://www.jpscorner.com/airtite-coin-albums.html

And just why should something of numismatic value not be in a Dansco or similar album? They protect the coins just the same as if the coin were in a 2x2 in a storage box.

Airtite does make their own albums. As stated above, they are very thick. Danscos are great. The old dansco folders- not so much. But the current albums are great. My only qualm is: be careful because those plastic slides can put minor scrapes on your coins surface.

I think capital plastics are the only practical thing that would be more inert, but they get big and unwieldy.
