The doubling that can be seen on the features of some coins that is not caused by a doubled die.
I dont know about paying a premium though. Maybe for some more noticeable doubling. Its one of those things that is quite common and really once you have a couple why would you want any more?

I honestly have made a killing with MD and Canadian varietys. I don't think its that worthless if its feeding my twin boys.IMO

Depends what elements are doubled - a doubled date is most desired, doubled obverse beads are least desired... (in my opinion)...

Opps. Forgot the obvious. Looked under glossary for this site. Nothing about Mechanical Doubling. There is something under double struck and double die. Google to the rescue. Looked for Mechanical Doubling of coins and found the description but it has led to more questions than answers e.g. in Mechanical Doubling would you not expect all relief features to be doubled? Guess this is why I like the hobby. More questions and then more answers followed by more questions :-) Thank you for reminding about trying the obvious first.
