You having the coin in hand could better tell if the line is raised or sunken. If it was struck through it would be imbedded most likely into the surface of the coin. Going by what I see in the separation (trench) of the line that it is just a scratch. PMD Report this Post to the Staff

Richard76 New Member Canada 45 Posts	Posted 03/18/2013 11:24 am Yes, a gouge, seems "u" shaped. The line follows the contour of the jacket and wraps around the rim by 1mm~. In the thickest section of the line I can see a pattern of oval indentations. Yet, the tapering of the line, at top, may mean this is a scratch. Report this Post to the Staff
