Hello to you all. You probably know that I am new here...and probably like a few of you have came here hoping for some help. Dont fret, I'm not going to get info and dash...just hoping for a helping hand determing exactly what I have. My grandfather was an advid collector, and now that my grandmother has passed, his collection has been handed down to me.

I know there are at least 7 Morgan dollars...and coins from the 1800's to that 1990's.. Where should I start searching for exactly what I have? Any ideas on how to categorize my collection?
ANY help would be appreciated.

You could post pictures of the Morgans, perhaps in a group unless a certain year requires better (closer) pictures.

If the coins aren't labeled, you could also look up the various types of coins you have to find the value, and if you don't know the type, simply look up the year of the coin along with the size (should be roughly the same size for dime, nickel, etc).

If it's easy enough, you could post the year and type of every coin you have, and members here may ask for pictures for certain coins.

Hope this helps!

Yes, post pictures. We love to help identify coins and provide informal grading.

Welcome to the forum.

You should organize the collection in such a way that it would make it easier for you to find the information you seek. If the coins are individually mounted in their holders sort them by denomination and sequentially by year and mint mark first. Make a list for each as you go. Then post pictures and the lists here and members can advise you on what you have. If you don't know where to look for the mint mark for any of the types of coins you're not familiar with just ask here and someone will tell you where to look.

You're going to have a lot of fun going through the collection and if you're not already a coin collector you might even catch the collecting bug so you've been warned. LOL!

Numismedia (free online priceguide) and PCGS Photograde (to help with grading) are two good online resources.

and feel free to post pictures so we can help.

Welcome to the coin collecting world. I'm fairly new to this forum but started in the 50`s and am getting to the age of handing down? or selling because coin collecting hasnt been a hobby of interest to our Grandkids and I would probably sell to someone who enjoys collecting and take the wife to Hawaii.
Its been a great hobby and it helped me to save more money when I was a kid with a paper route.
I have learned alot from this forum and the folks here are very helpful and I enjoy the posts.
