So this is not a drop of water but a raised area on the loonie. It is below the plating and the other side does not have any damage that would indicate metal being pushed from that side.

The denticles are raised about the same amount on top of the raised area as in other areas.

The area is solid and not soft to feel so it does not appear to be delamination from rusting underneath.

The only thing I can think of it as a die error. Anyone run into this kind of thing before?

Does anyone know if there is some department at Royal Canadian Mint that might be able to comment on the condition on the loonie.

This is definitely not a PMD since the plating is still intact.
