most large coin shows will have lots of sets available at 300 to 400, they are not that rare.

I got a PL-66 PCGS a few years ago for $240.
The toughy is a MS business strike. Those are offered surprisingly rarely. And trends start at $350 for MS-60.

Business strike is really tough to find and high MS goes for a high premium. Thanks all I will keep my radar on

Hi,
Looks in mint cond. Small picture of the obverse makes it hard to tell. But if it is, problem free I would send it to ICCS.

Oh...It's very problem free.... Many years ago when purchased... I placed a touch of plastic under the cent to keep the material off of it,... ..and the outer side has a thick clear plastic over all of the pieces anyway...and there is some fine die polishing on the coin...

I would get all those coins out of that mint set ASAP. The red plastic is PVC. I am amazed that your coins are not already destroyed. If I can find it I will post a photo of a 73 dollar from one of those sets....utterly destroyed by PVC.

Send it to ICCS.It would be interesting to see how they grade a specimen coin with die polishing marks. The marks are acceptable for a circulation strike, not so for a specimen.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning... -from PCGS website

I have this set also, I just bought it off ebay, are you saying the coins are in harms way? I saw Steven Bromberg have graded large busts for sale on the shopping channel 2 weeks a go there were ms 65 and ms 66 coins and 1 other certified grade, I don't remember the price . I think he is from Candian coin and currency. Someome will correct me if I'm wrong,

For sure the double dollar sets from 1972 and 1973 contain PVC. If the coins are left in the set they will be seriously harmed. I am not sure when the PVC was eliminated....it may be post-1973. I would have to check. There is a string on this site somewhere where I posted some pictures of my 1973 set. All of the coins were destroyed. I still have the dollar in my scrap somewhere. I will try to find it.

I definitely agree, as high price and the less popular giftware items sell out in most cases. However, the payment plan is great on items that are at issue price. This is how I was able to afford this years proof set , otherwise I wouldn't be able. I nearly was taken in by a sales pitch for$288 worth of giftware, that if sold on ebay might of fetched $100. He had hyped it as $125 discount , a show stopper. I was brand new to collecting, and hadn't discovered ebay yet. My son got me on ebay and when I compared the items, I discovered my error in time, and was able to return the items for a full refund. It truly is buyer beware. However, I have used it to my advantage to buy items sold out at RCM and at issue price and on payments through the shopping channel. It really comes down to doing your research before hand, so you can spot value.

Thanks for the heads-up on the PVC danger with this set.
You did say that the "red material" is where the problem is and not in the clear plastic window. I'll take each out and now place them in hard flips for now. Maybe that touch of plastic that I placed under the cent protected it too.
I will check and let you all know.,..in a bit.......
The Reverse of the 25c seems to be unaffected so far...(maybe I got lucky),....It's showing nicely here...
Could this one be a later case without PVC in the red..?
The 25c piece has always been Obverse up and this is the first time that I've tuned it over to take these pics.
