I have been obsessing over this coin, I can't really identify the variety. Usually I am quick to label them blunt 7's if I can't easily see the telltale talon of the pointed 7 but this one has me scratching my head it appears like it may be a pointed 7 with maybe a weaker strike or possibly a blunt 7 with machine error. Like I said I don't know and am open to all opinions.

That is the coolest 7. It's certainly like the pointed but the tail is a touch shorter than what I've always seen.

The 9 looks a bit different at the very bottom tip too. Here's a pointed one to make a quick comparison with.

How common is the 7/7 variety? I've seen one that appears (perhaps) like the OP's with a definite split at the bottom of the 7. Resurrecting this because I don't have photos or see the need for a new thread.

The 7/7 is fairly common but still commands a premium.
Not sure of actual mintage for it would depend on how many
strikes they got from that particular die before it wore out.
