how many pre 1960 coins do you find in a box of nickels? how many do you find if you just buy rolls and not a box I bought 18 rolls and found 4 pre 60 coins not silver and a s proof 68. is it good to keep pre 60 nickels are they all worth more than face value even if there not silver?

I think it all depends on how much you search and luck and condition is everything. Finding Buffalo nickels in rolls is even harder that just my opinion

I usually find roughly 25 per box. They are not worth much more than face value... Maybe a few cents. Unless they are in good condition.

I keep all pre 1960 nickels. In the past I have found several in customer wrapped rolls, but the last couple of times, they have been harder to find.

I sell all I get for 10 cents each. Condition is not much of a factor, as long SS they are G/vg or better its no problem

10 cents is a good price. Most of the ones I see are for about 40-50 cents unless they are older like a 1938 or 1939.

I just thinned out the herd. I am now only keeping the pre '50s Jeffersons. I also just let 11 dateless buffalos back to the wild, hoping someone finds them and it spurs a new collector.

Yes, they are in flea markets all the time for 40-50 cents each. The 1938s and 1939s bring more. For a 1938, normally $1-$1.50, and for a 1939, normally the same.

Where r you located? I used to sell several rolls at a time of pre-60s and only get 3.75 or 4$ per roll. I quit that and now get 10 cents per coin with no one taking their cut

Find out if these guys want more? Are you talking selling common ones like a 58d or 40?

I don't personally know the people that bought them. I just know they do. I think what the deal was is you get beginner coin collectors that go in there and think oh, 1941, that is an old date. There is no telling what that is worth. Then they buy it and live and learn. I think $4 is great for a mixed roll of pre 1960s. To sell them better, you might try to put them in sets, ex. 1940 pds 1941 pds 1942 pds, and then sell them.

I just saw 5 1949 nickels sell for $2 plus shipping. You might try ebay on them.
