I'm very new to the site but I was going through the forums and 'Coin Roll Hunting' peeked my interest. I immediately got anxious, and was itching to go. I've never done this coin roll hunting before. Needless to say, it was 2 am, and the banks were closed. I ran to bed with ideas swarming. Woke up, and ran to the bank. Then I decided to do something different and instead of getting one coin, like a dime. I got a little bit of all of them. I bought $203.50 worth of coins! $105-dimes $50-nickles $8.50-pennies $40-quarters And since I haven't seen a 'mixed roll' thread, here it is. I haven't even touched them yet (surprised me, normally they would all be torn open by now, but I'm posting this instead) but when I do, I will post my findings immediately. SO, I would love to hear your experiences too, oh, and I went to the gas station before I came home, and look what the clerk gave me I know it's not a coin, and I know it's not worth anything, but pretty cool precursor to the project! I'm excited!

The $2 note is a star note! I think that makes it more valuable...

A star note? I'm not really familiar with $2 notes, I've never collected them..might have to research it. Just got done with the quarters, not much and no silver . A few 1967's, a 1965, and a nice bicentennial, and a 1998. I think that the 1998 is AU (anyone's thoughts on condition of 1998?) Just started the nickels and already found a 1941, pictures coming soon!

A star note is a replacement note. The star is on the right of the serial number. They are fairly uncommon and usually hold a premium over standard notes. Of course...as with any currency (paper or coin) condition is everything.

WOW! I just got done, and lemme tell you, for my first time, I find my findings a success! But I need you're help guys, I'm new to coin knowledge, but not coin collecting if that makes sense. I need help with my findings, additional info, etc. I will post a few now and a few later. For now, the most compelling: The 1954 Nickel, possible S over D? Here's the Reverse side with the mint mark in question: So what do you guys think of that? Oh and here's something really weird. Not sure, but is this a copper dime!?!? Reverse: Another picture of the reverse side: Can't wait to hear from you guys! More pictures of my findings to come, I'm going to get another $200 tomorrow if I can.

Any thoughts on the 1998 quarter grade, the 1954 S over D, or the Copper dime? Here are some more photos of my findings! 1955 Wheatie! 1955 reverse: Here are some silver war-time nickels:

The dime is suffering from severe environmantal damage. Not an error.

Yeah, back in the carefree days when I owned a propane torch, I would heat up expendable American money just to see what happened. I was really surprised when the clad plates came right off of the first Roosevelt I tried, leaving a copper dime underneath. Maybe yours was in a fire?

I have been picking up a box of nickels and a box of cents when I get my halves since Christmas time as halves have not been paying out. I found I had 8 boxes of cents and 2 boxes of nickels sitting around that I didn't have time to go through yet so yesterday and today I have been trying to work through them to free up some funds for more boxes. No wonder why it seems I am always broke as all of my money is tied up in boxes of change I need to look through or that I have pulled and set aside. I found a proof Jefferson nickel (only my second), a 2009 Canadian nickel, a stickered nickel and cent, 2 beat out nickels, 2 proof cents and the normal wheats and Canadian cents and pulled all of the copper for a rainy day.

Some nice and interesting finds here. My favourite is probably that 1968-S proof Jefferson nickel.
