We all know there's the big 3, PCGS, PMG and CGA.
Do you guys have any preference over which TPG holder you trust and prefer over the others?

Personally, from what I've seen while browsing ebay, CGA does tend to grade higher than other PCGS/PMG. Because that is usually the case, I tend to think of a GEM by CGA as AU or Choice UNC by PMG/PCGS. I still buy notes in their holders but tend to take a closer inspection myself.
Most of my notes however are in PCGS or PMG holders, half and half.

The decision is pretty much personal preference. None of the TPG companies is without criticism. Having said that I would prefer PCGS over the other two.

Woodford,

Wow, that question could really start a firestorm IMHO. I liken it to - insert stick into the hornets nest, stir vigorously and then run like h3ll.

Seriously, you have to consider which CGA you are talking about - the old one or the new one - just to muddy the waters some more.

I cannot disagree with your observations with regards to the old CGA though. But I have no experience with the new CGA.

Jim, I noticed it was being discussed in some other currency forums and of course it is a topic that could result in heated debate.
However, these exact discussions are what forums are about as long as people have cool heads and be respectful when posting.

I've had minimal experience with the old CGA and not all CGA grades are inaccurate. Most are spot on, and I agree with the grades on most of the CGA holder notes I possess.
However, I do notice more GEM CGA notes in the market than GEM PCGS/PMG notes.
Perhaps there is a reason why I never seen a CGA note in a Heritage auction?

Thank you guys for this post and your opinions....I have some notes that should be graded and don't really know where to go....I like PCGS and NGC for coins, and had coins sent to NGC recently...I kind of like PMG....OK another opinion......
