1994-World-Cup-Soccer-Uncirculated-But-With-Cameo

I saw this coin being offered by L & C Coins and it struck my curiosity because of the cameo frosted effect on the devices. I'm hoping that it looks this sharp, if not better in hand. Either way, worth the couple bucks over spot to check it out.

I once saw a Civil War dollar in BU with amazing frost on the devices and kicked myself for not buying it when it was available.

Does anybody know how frequently modern comems are found like this?

I guess I am not sure on the frequency - I've recently purchased several moderns and have yet to encounter one I would say has a cameo appearance. My clad halves seem to have that appearance more often than the Silvers.

Among the modern series, I've noticed that the uncirculated Civil War coins and the World Cup Soccer coins often have a look in which the fields are "less satiny" and "more brilliant" than many other issues â€" this may partially explain what you are seeing.

On the coin shown, I can see more distinction between the fields and devices on the reverse vs. the obverse (I don't see any on the obverse) â€" maybe the coin was among the first 100 or so struck after a new reverse die was set in the press.
