The Mint has still not posted, on their website, what the price will be for the Silver coins being released this month.

What is your guess? Will they price it the same as Girl Scout is now and leave them that high? Or will they lower the price due to dropping silver prices?

Your thoughts?

They will be the same, I read that the mint has no immediate plans for a downward price adjustment.

$54.95 intro price for one month , then $59.95 ; $50.95 intro, then $55.95 for the UNC ; $17.95/$21.95 for the proof Half

and $16.95/$20.95 for the UNC Half.

They haven't priced the $5 gold coin yet, that is supposed to be adjusted for spot I heard.

I am so looking forward to this release, at least the half dollar and dollar. Not sure if I can really afford the gold, but if a three-coin set is priced right, I might have to strongly consider it.

Agree with Denco, barring a significant move down in silver expect the price to be the same if not higher

Here's an excerpt from an interview of Michael White ( Mint Office of Public Affairs)by Louis Golino ;

" Perhaps most importantly, Mr. White explained that the Mint "generally reprices coins so that the entire portfolio recovers its cost," and added that they need "some margin to cushion against volatility" in precious metal prices.

Looking forward, he said that Mint officials hope they can keep price increases to a minimum. "

Basically, the mint uses their popular coins to fund their less popular coins.

The Intro period prices for the 2011 Army half dollar were $15.95 for the Unc and $17.95 for the Proof. Regular period prices were $19.95 and $21.95, respectively.

So, the 5-Star General Unc half dollars are $1.00 more for Intro and Regular periods. The Proof version is the same price as in 2011.

I cannot believe that I am actually thinking about getting the three-coin proof set (5G7).

Am I nuts?

This would be my first gold coin ever.

We shall see what the issue price is.

I have a number in mind.

If it is at that price (or less), I will pull the trigger.

(No, I will not say what it is!)

Most definitely.

I am getting the dollar in uncirculated and proof.

I really like the three-coin set, but the price of gold really hurts.

I also know that I would rather put the extra money towards other coins in my Dansco albums.
