Poll Question
I am looking at a potential Trade dollar upgrade in my 7070 and would like to hear what the CCF has to say about these two candidates; A. 1877-S (PCGS) B. 1878-S (ANACS Older White Holder) Both would run about the same as far as cost goes, each have their merits and are problem free. ...or hold on to the present one and focus on another upgrade. C. 1877-S (Ex-PCGS) (Presently residing in my 7070) Thanks for your interest!

Between the two new ones I like the circulated look of the first one better, but between all three I like the one you have best. If anything I would just get the one you have regraded since I think your set is slabbed now if I remember right

Assuming a similar price, I would take A over B but A doesn't seem to be much of an upgrade to the one already in your type set.

The potential upgrades don't look much better than the one you already have in my opinion.

basebal21, that is the reason (having to be regraded) why I am looking around for an "upgrade". I purchased my Trade dollar from someone who cracked theirs free to physically place into their 7070 album and kept the inserts. Since it is removed from it's slab, PCGS would consider it RAW and would require the full fees for submittal ($32 + shipping/handling fees). I may sell my "raw" Trade dollar to acquire either A (leaning towards) or B. ...or I could just send it in to PCGS with a couple of other raw coins; 1861/0 Half Dime and a 1854 Dime (ex ANACS AU50) You guys are correct, it is not much of an upgrade (numerically); Coin A +5 (PCGS XF45) But it would " fit" in my slabbed 7070. Coin B +10 (ANACS AU50) You guys are great!

The toning on A gives it some eye appeal, so I'd take that one.

I think your current example has the most eye appeal of the three, and would look great in a slab.
If I were choosing between A and B, I'd choose A for eye appeal. I also should mention that I don't see B as an AU coin unless there is luster that the photos don't show.

I like A best of them all. I know, I'm going against the grain. If you do upgrade, put your current one up for sale here. I'm shoppin'. :-)

You are not alone billymac11...still weighing the options of getting my current one regreaded/reslabbed or...
Update: The seller of of Coin A. sold it out from underneath me, he was very slow with his responses anyway.

I agree. If I were to start a collection of slabs, I would prefer to buy them that way. Let someone else deal with the stress of shipping the coin in; I will still being paying for the privilege.

basebal21, seven posts up I put a couple of images of a 1861/0 Half Dime and a 1854 Dime (ex-ANACS) that I could send it along with the Trade dollar...which would spread the fees a little better.

I really like the look of your 1854 dime. As for the Trades, I would send yours in to get it back in plastic as the two potentials aren't an upgrade in my opinion.
