Road kill with these? They would probably cover a square foot, before you had the opportunity to recover them. Wouldn't bother. Besides, they wouldn't taste yummy anymore.

...thought I would test the "roadkill" theory, as applied to the limited edition "Troutshed Mint" coins. I planted a row of these across a busy Melbourne street last night and innocently lingered in the shadows for a while watching the action. After retrieving the "coins" I was surprised to find that these were still intact after the experiment. Mind you, there were no big trucks, steamrollers etc on the road at that time I have attached some pics of this latest experiment. "before coins" (O) on the left hand side, "roadkill" (B,F) on the right hand side. You can clearly see the difference between the side that lay on the road (B) and the other side that the car tyres rode over (F). Squire

A commendable job there Squire. I see you must indeed be a Legend Member having received one of the ever so special edition MOR coins!

...thanks "The Unicorn". I guess it paid to noodle through the confectionery section at my local Kmart in order to find that elusive limited edition MOR ... Squire

@ Squire Wilson: I have heard of folks declaring themselves to be 'lurkers', before joining the CCF, but this is the first time I have heard of a real lurker hiding in the bushes in the dark, on the side of the road!
I didn't realise how far one's fanatacicism in numismatics could take us!
I notice that the aluminium bronze coins don't stand up as well to this kind of treatment.

sel_691. Actually, I was worried that some dodgy character would swoop upon the specimens and run off with them before I was finished with the experiment. Heaps of people on "sugar high's / sugar addictions" during this Happy Easter time . On the other hand, I did not want to interfere with the driving habits of the motorists helping me with this experiment, ie. I could not lounge at the kerb So a degree of "James Bond" discretion was required Squire

Could you imagine what a reporter would write if they spied this midnight lurker suddenly leap out of the bushes and sprint after a choc-coin-aholic who had scooped up a handful of Easter roadkill, and while spinting after the coin thief, the lurker is also yelling and ranting about having his experiment ruined?
