I've just completed our new live auction room system at: http://www.numisbid.com.au/Auction/ and I'd like to give it a test run before our April auction. So at 7pm, April 1st we'll be running another test auction. Same rules as the last test auction, whatever you win you get free, limited to one coin per bidder. The catalogue will go up on the 31st, there will be about 10 - 15 coins, most PCGS graded and from the $10-30 range. If everything goes well, we'll be introducing this new (and hopefully faster) live auction system into our April auction.

just a couple of thoughts.
1) if one was not aware or involved in your previous auction, and the same rules apply to this auctions, how would I know what those rules might be.
2) what is the purpose of the test auction. if it is to test the operation of the site, I understand. if it is to gauge the interest level - I doubt that you would get any accurate predictor of interests - I so much as there is no monetary risk in bidding up an item. and who wouldn't want to just bid and bid and bid - for free coins.?

Both good points, dbrablec.
I assume that rules will be repeated. I assume that the reason is to test the functionality of the new format. wwwww will answer as to the purpose if I have misinterpreted the intent.
If I were to win, I'd ask that the "prize" be donated to the CCF for the next major show. No doubt there is/are major shows in Australia as well.

The normal auctions run as standard auctions with the terms and conditions stated when bidding. 2.) The purpose of this auction is to test the new live auction feature. Our previous live auction system got very slow when more than 10 people were on at the same time (and crashed every now and then too). We're hoping this new system will be a lot faster but I'd like to test it out beforehand, a.) to see if it's actually faster and b.) to see if it doesn't crash mid-auction. The idea of making it free is to get as many people on-line as possible to see if the server can handle it. Quote: Both good points, dbrablec.

I haven't opened bidding to overseas bidders for this test auction due to shipping costs but if it's for charitable causes I'm happy to send it over but you'll need to temporarily put down your country as Australia or the auction system won't accept your bids.

I should note that the auction catalogue for the test auction hasn't been uploaded yet, the coins you see on now are for our actual (paid) auction on the 18th.

Yes, just to be clear, only the coins with 'Numis Bid Test Auction' listed underneath ending this Monday are part of the test auction.
